Saying That I Have A Passion For Fashion Is An Understatement!
I'm André, a passionate artist, designer, and the proud owner of Derells. From a young age, I always had a knack for creativity, which led me down various artistic paths.
My journey began when I enrolled in an architectural design school. This experience opened my eyes to a new perspective on design, fueling my interest in drawing and painting. As I delved deeper into the world of art, I discovered dance, a medium through which I could truly express myself. Dancing became an integral part of my childhood, allowing me to explore movement and emotions.
However, it was the renowned fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld who captured my attention as I grew older. Lagerfeld's revolutionary designs spoke volumes through aesthetic themes, inspiring me to pursue a career in fashion. I longed to be a designer who not only repurposed existing concepts but also invented something entirely new, adding my unique touch to the industry.
I learned from Lagerfeld that art and fashion are deeply intertwined, with each having a profound impact on the other. Fueled by this knowledge and armed with a $20 sewing machine, I took a leap of faith in 2018 and founded Derells. It was during this time that I created my inaugural collection, Red Wall, a name that resonated with me at that moment for its obvious reasons.
Since then, Derells has been an avenue for me to express my creative vision. I've been honing my skills in various areas such as beading, garment design, hand-embroidery, hand-painting, and, of course, sequin work. Each creation is infused with my passion and dedication to craftsmanship.
